A’ began a small business with a certain amount of money. After four months from the start of the business. ‘B’ joined the business with an amount which was Rs.6,000 less than ‘A’s initial investment. ‘C’ joined the business after seven months from the start of business with an amount which was Rs.2,000 less than A’s initial investment. At the end of the year total investment repented was Rs.1,42,000. What will be A’s share in the profit. if B received Rs.8,000 as profit share?

Solution :

Let initial investment of A be Rs. x

Total investment at the end of year = 12x + 8 (x – 6000) + 5 (x – 2000)

= 12x + 8x + 5x – 48000 – 10000

= Rs.(25x – 58000)

25x – 58000 = 142000

=> 25x = 142000 + 58000

= 200000

=> x = 200000/25

= Rs. 8000

Ratio of profit sharing for A, B and C = (12 x 8000) : (8 x 2000) : (5 x 6000)

= 96000 : 16000 : 30000

= 48 : 8 : 15

B’s share = Rs.8000

A’s share = 48/8 x 8000
=48000 (Answer)

the ratio of the no. of boys and girls in a school is 5:3 some new boys and girls admitted to the school, in the ratio 5:7. at this total number of students in the school become 1200 , and the ratio of boys to girls Changed to 7:5. the numbers of students

Solition:
let old numbt of boys be 5x nd girls is 3x new boys nd girls enters be 5y and 7y total boys = 5x +5y total girls = 3x+7y by ratio boys is 7/12*(1200)= 700 girls = 5/12*(1200) = 500 now 5x+5y =700 3x +7y = 500 x= 120 total student is 8x = 8*120= 960
